Someone explain to me the British currency please, like all the coins and what they mean. I came into some British coins recently and am trying to understand them. Thanks.

Pounds and pence are the two denominations, like dollars and the smaller version of dollars that I forget the name of. There's 100 pence in a pound. Pence is the plural of penny, I've never used the word "pennies" before in my life. From memory there's the following coins: 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1, £2. They're all different sizes and shapes for blind people. I don't know the conversion rate, though. You can't buy anything with 1p anymore, but there used to be 1p sweets before everything inflated and all of that.
You say "one pee" for 1p. Also often instead of "pounds" people say "quid" as in "that cost 5 quid." I've never questioned why before and just use it haha. You'd never write the word quid instead of £, but it's said often.
There used to be an old currency system before they changed it in 1971 when we "decimalised" and there was all this shit like groats and sixpences and shillings but I have no idea what any of that is.

One Pee for 1p? Awesome. And I did see about the decimalizing, so now the money system makes sense with 100p to a pound, like 100cents (we wouldn't say 'pennies') to 1 dollar - I was trying to understand what a shilling was, but whatever. I've got something called a ' 2 new penny' and that took a little while to understand, plus some money from Jersey and the Isle of Wright which I thought was cool.
So are like, shillings legal anymore? What happens if you try to pay in sixpences? Do ya'll have half-pounds?
Another random question: What are some British snacks you would find at a supermarket or convienence store, like that's uniquely British?

A half pound is 50p?
And they wouldn't let you use shillings, they're not legal tender anymore... I don't think I've ever even seen one, actually.

And British snacks...well we don't have Hot Pockets here. Oreos were introduced last year and I think Hersheys are attempting to get in here but with Cadbury, Galaxy, Lindt and Nestle I don't think it's going to work. Typical ones are Jammie Dodgers: Monster Munch crisps (SO GOOD): Jaffa Cakes: Anything Cadbury (fuck you Kraft): Mint Polos: Quavers crisps: Shortbread biscuits: General other biscuits:

Oh man, Cadbury is SO superior to Hershey's, no competition.
I LOVE the Cadbury eggs that come out around Easter.

Let's see...what do we have here in America? I forgot how to do the image thing, you might have to help me out on that Liz.
We've got Little Debbies (the token food of Liz's household), Fruit Roll-ups, Pizza Rolls, Pop-Tarts....

Emma once saw an ad for Hot Pockets years ago and has wanted one ever since, haha. If they didn't have to be refrigerated, I'd totally do a trade for some British junk food. Little Debbies are one of God's greatest creations though, for real. Totally white trash but sooo delicious.

I know! Like the fudge rounds? I know for a fact that there is no real fudge and/or chocolate in them, but I just can't help but be drawn to them.

I remember you gave me a link to a live feed of a Cubs game and that's when I saw the Hot Pockets adverts haha. It was the first game I ever watched and there was a fight, and I remember your mum was all "why can't I watch the feed? Liz it says it's full?" lmao. I felt guilty.

Hershey Kisses are awesome! Especially the ones that are half white chocolate, mmmmm. I actually don't like fudge rounds, one of the few little debbies I won't eat. Those and Marshmellow Supremes, EW.
LOL I forgot you saw that ad while watching a Cubs game, the infamous one where the catcher punched the pitcher (one the same team...the same team chemistry of Bama gymnastics, I guess, haha).
